Stupid Assignments 2022
(Yes that’s the actual title.)

Weekly assignments for the Intro to Creative Software course at the Advertising - Digital & Creative Strategy program at Centennial College.
Each week the class decides the theme of the assignment, not knowing what the brief is. The class is competing for stupid points and lollipops to win a stupid trophy for the year.
And I WON.
Week 2
Made an album cover for Taylor Swift using the texts, images, and textures in the provided Photoshop file. No external stuff are allowed.
Won a lollipop for this.
Week 3
Created a typography Instagram post educating everyone about the most popular Cantonese profanity.
Didn’t win a lollipop but this is Evan’s favourite. (Evan is my professor.)
Week 4
Created a fake online dating profile for ‘Evan’. Took inspiration from The Handmaid’s Tale and photoshopped together the provided stock images and AI generated faces.
Only got in the honourable mentions for this week.
Week 5
Created a Mang O’Lantern stencil and wrote a 10-word description (as required.) The vegetable portion of the caption is about the Just Stop Oil protests at museums.

Week 6
Designed a penguin tattoo for my professor. This is my favourite assignment and I spent so much time making sketches. Rob Zombie was the juror to pick the finalists. I didn’t win and he got the design from another classmate tattooed on his actual arm.
Got picked as one of the finalists and Evan’s favourite though.

I won the stupid trophy!! And I changed the original design of the lollipop to the trophy and got this inked on myself!

Week 7
Made a World Cup logo for my hometown. Got really emotional while presenting this in class (I legit cried which was embarrassing.)
Won a lollipop and got picked as Evan’s favourite by bribing the audience with my tears. AND!! Finally got to the first place in the stupid trophy race.
Week 8
Designed the currency for Pampucho. Would do without the eight ball if it wasn’t a requirement to include at least one of the provided assets.

Week 9
Made a 3-page children’s book for my professor’s almost 4y/o nephew. Hand-drawn all illustrations and wrote the story. Brachiosaurus is my favourite dinosaur.
My professor’s nephew was the juror. He didn’t pick mine as one of the five favourites, but his feedback was ‘Oh, I would’ve given the dinosaurs a hug too.’

Week 10
The Grand Finale
The brief for this assignment is to FAIL.
By week 10, I have accumulated 40 stupid points. I’ve decided to burn it all to the ground, so I went back and redid all my stupid assignments while breaking the champion rules of 1. No Comic Sans and 2. No Moths, which should bring me to zero.
